During one fateful night at Frankie & Johnnie's steakhouse in Manhattan, famed (but fading) director Harris Chappell plans to re-launch his Broadway career after suffering a humiliating series of flops in Hollywood. He is joined for dinner by his sardonic former flame Didi and a struggling young actor, Spencer. As his play's fortunes rise and fall in between each bite of his meal, Chappell begins to think he might be better off just going mad.
