Frequently Asked Questions
1) Can I watch HDX or HD on the web?

Yes! You can now watch many movies and TV shows in HD and HDX on www.vudu.com. To see if a movie is available to stream in HD or HDX on your computer, click on your movie of choice and you will see a purple banner at the top that says "HDX and HD Now available on PC/MAC computers!" If you do not see this banner, then you can still stream the movie, but only in SD.

What are my bandwidth requirements?
Bandwidth requirements are as follows:
HD - 2.25mbps or higher
HDX - 4.5mbps or higher
You can test your speed at http://speedtest.vudu.com. If you do not meet the bandwidth requirements to stream in HDX, you can also download in HDX using VUDU To Go.

What are my system requirements?
System requirements are as follows:
A PC or Mac with Intel Core i5 (or AMD equivalent) processor
2gb of RAM
A graphics card and display that are HDCP compliant (if you do not know if your graphics card or display are HDCP compliant, please check with the manufacturer for details).

You may see high CPU consumption while watching HD or HDX on your computer. This is expected. If you see stuttering, please try again after killing other programs that may be running in the background.

What browser should I use to watch movies in HD/HDX?
We support the following browsers - Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox and Internet Explorer. However, we've seen the best results with using the Google Chrome browser.

Can I watch HD/HDX on Apple laptops and desktops?
Yes, we support most Apple laptops and desktops to watch HD/HDX via a browser. However, most Apple laptops and desktops (Mac Mini and Mac Pro) do not support HDCP outputs to external monitors. If you're using a Macbook Pro or Macbook Air, you can watch HD and HDX using the laptop display. Otherwise, you will be limited to SD playback. If you feel that you are seeing an HDCP message in error, please contact Apple support. http://www.apple.com/support/mac/. If you are using a Retina display Macbook Pro, please use Google Chrome as we have seen issues with Safari.

Why am I getting a black image/screen when I try to play the movie?
If the movie window only displays a black image, then that typically means that the Flash player has crashed or stopped responding. To fix this, restart your browser and that will start a new Flash session.

2) What is UltraViolet™?
Creating an UltraViolet account is free. UltraViolet is a new movie industry standard that allows you to put your movies in the cloud. It is also the only place that will keep a permanent record of all your movie purchases so you can build your digital movie collection safely and securely. With UltraViolet, you can now easily access your movies any time, any place on your favorite connected devices, including your TV. UltraViolet titles can be redeemed on VUDU accounts starting 4/16/2012.
3) What should I do if I'm having trouble redeeming a promo code?
First, double check the promo code to make sure it is being entered properly.

Also, please note that you are limited to five (5) promotions on your account. If you are trying to redeem more than 5 promos, the code will fail the redemption process.

If the promo code is for an e-copy of a movie, please double check the details on your promo code as these can be offered by the movie studio and may require additional steps to redeem the movie on your VUDU account. An e-copy promotion is only valid for one VUDU account.

If you are still having issues redeeming your code, please contact VUDU Customer Care by clicking "Support" in the top menu.
